College Courses
High Tech High North County’s dual enrollment program offers students a powerful head start on their college journey while still in high school. Through strong partnerships with local colleges and universities, students have the opportunity to take authentic college-level courses, earn transferable credits, and experience the rigor of higher education in a supportive environment.
At HTHNC, more than 80% of seniors graduate having completed at least one dual enrollment course. This experience not only strengthens their academic preparation but also builds the confidence and skills needed to transition successfully to college. By the time they leave High Tech High North County, many of our students have already earned college credit, giving them a distinct advantage as they pursue their postsecondary goals.
This program allows students to...
1. Gain Early Exposure to College-Level Coursework
Dual enrollment allows students to experience the rigor and expectations of college classes while still in high school. This early exposure helps them build strong academic habits, develop critical thinking skills, and gain confidence in their ability to succeed in higher education.
2. Earn College Credit Before Graduation
Students can earn transferable college credits through dual enrollment courses, giving them a head start on their postsecondary education. This can reduce the time and cost of college, and allow students to explore more advanced or diverse subjects once they enroll full-time.
3. Smooth Transition to College Life
By participating in dual enrollment, students become familiar with college systems, expectations, and campus culture. This experience helps ease the transition from high school to college, making students more prepared, independent, and self-assured as they embark on their postsecondary journeys.
Through dual enrollment, students have access to a diverse range of courses designed to match their interests and goals. Humanities options include subjects such as Sociology, Speech Communication, History, and Political Science, while STEM offerings feature advanced courses like College Algebra and Statistics.
HTHNC’s dual enrollment program not only prepares students for the rigor and challenges of college but also positions them to meet the admissions standards of highly selective institutions. By engaging in a rigorous, college-level curriculum, students gain a meaningful academic head start that empowers them to succeed in their postsecondary pursuits.
Beyond Dual Enrollment courses, Raptors may also take concurrent enrollment courses at Palomar College or MiraCosta College. Students can take any course that fits with the HTHNC schedule. These courses can be taken during the school year (fall or spring) or over the summer.
